Introducing the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

Nothing to remind about as I am pretty sure most of you would have watched the live stream of Apple’s latest iPhone launch event which happened earlier today which brings two different variant of iPhones. Some predicted the name to be iPhone 6 correctly while the other bigger version to be iPhone Air, but looks like the name has been settled for iPhone 6 Plus instead which the name itself highlights which one could be higher end and could cost more.

Let’s start with the iPhone 6. the display is now much bigger than the iPhone 5S which has a 4.0-inch display. The iPhone 6 comes with 4.7-inch LCD which remains Retina Display technology resulting in a resolution of 750 x 1334 with a pixel density of 326ppi. The only difference with the display compared to the iPhone 5S is the display size and display resolution with the pixel density remains unchanged.

Instead of Gorilla Glass or Sapphire glass, Apple introduces Shatter proof glass which still gives a good amount of protection to your iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus compared to the Gorilla Glass which was present on the iPhone 5S. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus comes with 4G LTE connectivity with the same Nano SIM remains unchanged. Really glad that you don’t have to get a smaller sized SIM, at least for now.

For the storage capacity, now you have 16GB, 64GB and an incredible 128GB with the 32GB removed from the list for both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Because you have an option to purchase the 128GB version, Apple still does not include any micro SD card slot for neither iPhones. The LTE is now CAT 4 which simply means a bigger speed upgrade compared to the iPhone 5S which could reach a download speed of up to 100Mbps only compared to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus which now supports download speed up to 150Mbps. And for those who resides in the US, you have VoLTE under T-Mobile carrier specifically.

The main camera on the iPhone 6 is still at 8MP which could be a disappointment for some of you guys out there who would have expect at least an upgrade to 13MP. To make it up, Apple introduces Focus Pixels which allows a enhanced quality to capture images sharper while on Auto Focus. Everything remains same for the main camera with a minor upgrade of frame rates while capturing videos from 30fps to now 60fps on Full HD while 120fps to 240fps on HD mode. The selfie camera has no difference in term of megapixel which still remains at 1.2MP with an additional feature which now supports burst mode.

As for the CPU, you get a 64-bit A8 processor which is 25% faster than the A7 processor found on the iPhone 5S.  The iPhone 6 has a battery capacity of 1810mAh which is still better than the iPhone 5S and could provide you a decent battery life. Other feature such as fingerprint scanner still remains which allows you to pay bills or purchase items via Apple’s Touch ID itself.  iOS 8 gets its introduction here with better performance and better UI overall providing a stable and comfortable user friendly environment.

For the iPhone 6 Plus, it is definitely the best iPhone yet till date simply because of the following criteria :-

– Full HD Display 1080 x 1920

– Optical Image Stabilization on the main 8MP camera which allows crisp and clearer images without much noticeable shakes or blurs.

–  A mouth watering 2915mAh battery capacity which would provide a 14-hour screen on time while watching videos. We already know that the iOS consumes less power than any other OS out there.

The iPhone 6 weighs at 129g and measures a thickness of only 6.9mm while the iPhone 6 Plus weighs at 172g, the heaviest iPhone yet with a remarkable thickness of only 7.1mm despite its huge outlook.

There will be three colors made available for purchase, the Gold, Silver and Space Grey. The prices without contract are still not made available so I would dare to guess the prices for the 16GB version in Malaysia for iPhone 6 at RM2499 while the iPhone 6 Plus to be priced at RM2899. Do take note that this is just a guessing and could be probably different once it is available here in Malaysia. How excited are you to get one of these for yourself?

Existing iPhone users with even iPhone 4S, iPad 2, iPod touch 5-th generation will be eligilable for iOS8 update which will be going live on September 17th 2014.

Tips: You can easily do iPhone transfer from old iPhone to new iPhone 6/plus, so that all your photos, videos, music can be moved to your new iPhone with a few clicks.
